About Me

My photo
St. Johns, Florida, United States
You have to know me to love me. I am an Alaskan Native (Aleut) from Bristol Bay, Alaska where I grew up commercial fishing for salmon. I have three amazing children who I would give my life for, no questions asked. Joe is my husband ~ wouldn't trade him for anything! We belong to a furry little dog named Buster, he loves me the most because I give him treats (chips) and snuggle with him when no one else is looking.

Thing 23

Survey ~ This Neflin 23 Things was a great adventure and challenge! Some of the things were a lot of fun to do, others not so fun and more of a chore. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it for others. If you know how to do some of these things it's a great refresher course and if not, it adds to your knowledge base. Thank you to all the folks at NEFLIN for doing such a wonderful job!

Thing 22

Staying Current ~ The 23 Things have been on the whole, a lot of fun! I've become a little more comfortable blogging, never thought I'd admit that. I just feel like some of the things I post might seem ridiculous and haven't been comfortable with others seeing that side of me. :D Reflecting back to the first thing, I would have to say that doing an actual blog was the hardest thing. Ran into a couple of glitches, especially with Flickr, but once I figured it out things seemed to go a little smoother. I'm going to try to keep up with blogging, don't know how I'll find the time but I'll give it a shot!

Thing 21

Student 2.0 Tools ~ Checked out all the linked sites. They are all great and depending on user's level I think they would be helpful to all students, especially those with time management issues. In the public library I think if we provided a link to these sites they would be utilized.

Thing 20

Books 2.0 ~ All of the linked sites are very interesting, I could spend hours and hours browsing... my favorite is Bookstumpers, what a fun site! You can just type in your search words and it gives a good list of books that contain that specific text. I typed in some random passages from books I've read and couldn't remember the titles and tada, my title was listed, it came back once I saw the title and author. Lately, in the public library I've noticed that more and more people are checking out audiobooks & downloading electronic books instead of the regular written copy. While out and about in the community I've also seen people reading their Kindle, they have sung it's praises but don't like the fact that you have to buy your books, you can't just "check them out" like you do in a public library, if you're a voracious reader it could get quite spendy.

States I've been to...

The states that I've actually visited are in blue. My goal is to visit all 50 states before my expiration date!
